Kawaii Street: Kawaii Monster
Some might look at me and think Cheshire cat, which I am wily and chaotic good, so that fits. Others might see Sully from Monsters Inc. which also fits cause I'm a big fluff who takes time to care for others. What I see is my first attempt at Decora. I was initially very proud of my look for my third meet up with DC Kawaii Style. This look was another exploration into a winter look with a bit of Jade fun. You might recall that I mentioned in a previous blog post that I would get this coat from UnResAttic and let me tell you this whole coord was inspired by it. I hope you enjoy this kawaii look, and feature of one of my quickly becoming favorite shops on etsy! If you happen to like this Coord check out the shops I mentioned.
Creating a Kawaii Monster:
It's freezing out in Maryland, and let me tell you its a wrong time to not have your laundry not piled up and have no clean pink pants. That was my first mistake, but I made to do with some overalls and tights. Was I cold? Certainly my thighs might be thick, but they don't generate nearly enough heat. Anyway, I wore my favorite Adornedbychi Top, "Magical Girl," and my newer addition of Dr. Martins. Most importantly, I am wearing the Giant button pastel faux fur coat by UnResAttic. Similarly to my Kawaii Glam look, the main addition to this outfit is the coat. Why? Cause its bloody cold, but it doesn't mean I can't maintain a fashionable presence. Keeping my color palette pastel was difficult, so I choose to just enjoy the spark of color and vibrancy. I celebrated pink energy and being a kawaii winter monster.
Many of my accessories are from Un-Resattic, but there is one kawaii planet hair piece from Onicorn. In creating my accessory coordination, I thought a lot on what was said in the O-kei podcast about Decora being a look that you create, its something you make. I took it to heart, and when I put on my horns and my dead fish clips, I felt like I carried the decor of a kawaii monster from another world. Plus the pink color palette is one of my primary sources of inspiration.
There is one accessory I really want to highlight. A part of me really took a liking to the fish clips in the shop because I'm highly allergic to seafood. Its deadly for me, but for some reason these clips present an irony, opportunity, and a chance for me to connect to something that I kind of can't in reality. I currently have one pink fish, and one white! I hope to achieve a rainbow of dead fish, but secretly I hope to get more pink fish more.
Kawaii Monster Collection:
"Under your bed, and dancing to poetry in trees a kawaii monster is born. Equally chaotic and light a pastel monster delights all those who seek strength, color, and the power of self-expression."
I hope you enjoyed this look! I know I did, for the most part, I only lost confidence in my first decora attempt after a little feedback. I'm still very new to Jfashion, but I want to be steadfast in my trust that fashion and self-expression are a pairing of the cosmos. Putting together this coord was fun, chaotic, and had the energy i wanted to be the Jade I see myself as. A kawaii monster is magical, and i hope to revisit this look better and more decora ready next time.
