Kawaii Street: Pink Progress
Here is the thing about Alternative fashion and style no one tells you about how long it takes to build up a damn wardrobe to your liking. My closet is slowly transforming to a Yamikawaii, and vibrant decora ready space. I’m still slacking on some essentials and accessories, but I am getting there. However, this poor while working perma-lifestyle is making this process slow. I have so much I want to do, but like with many things money is a big factor for the speed in which is done. My mind is on “fast and furious,” but my wallet is on “land before time.”
It can be frustrating and make me feel like I’m not the Kawaii my mind wants me to be. I want to be Card Captor Sakura closet ready or potentially Ezra Scarlet…either one would be beyond delightful. I want to build these COORDS and present the characters and voices within me. At some point, I hope to be Lolita ready or potentially fashion walk ready! Spoiler: Katsucon is going a fashion debut my darlings. I am so nervous but excited to participate in the modeling show for Sweet Bitz.
Back to the kawaii dilemma of building a kawaii closet. I have had some vibrant COORDS in the winter of 2018, and I hope to go beyond in 2019. I want to support more Indie brands, and shops run by people of color too. I hope with my internal character creation I can bring to life a form of self-expression that truly embodies my spirit and multi-faceted complexity. There is a whole world of style I want to engage in and be a part of. For now, my closet is building, and I thought I would give a quick peek at what it's looking like. My pink progress is getting somewhere!
My recent “mini hauls” are from thrift stores and those random gift card gifts from grandparents. I used one of mine at Old Navy and found some casual pink editions. At the thrift store, I went vintage and patterned. Sticking to some purple tones to highlight my purple docs a little more…and for some reason, I bought some Hawaiian shirts clearly missing the island and Honolulu’s kimchi fried rice. The pricey addition to my closet was a cardigan from Lazy Oaf, blessed by Afterpay, I’m mixing up my winter glam with some fierce and funky animal print.
What will I make with these? I’m unsure, but whatever it is it’ll be “funky fresh” I was cheesing so hard showing my partner my thrift store finds, and I’m excited about future COORDS. If you know an indie brand or a place I should try out let me know! Testing my creativity with style is a hobby and kawaii passion of mine.
